You might want to check out this product.  It is a neat accessory you can add to your truck car or van to protect you detector from theft.  Not sure how much it costs but looks like hunters use it.

It says, in their literature,

"a TruckVault Extreme storage unit valued at $3,500"

so I guess that's what it costs!!!
