I took Charlie's advice and went back to the place where I had  been hitting the wheaties and early clad and went slow and listened for the deep signals.  I figured with the rain I had a good chance of finally getting some deep silver.  I was hoping for some silver Rosies since I had found many 1965-69 in this site.  Well I found something I hadn't expected...a sweet 1940-D Mercury Dime!  It was about 5" deep.   The rain really helped me hit some deeper coins this time.  Ended up with the following:

1940-D Mercury Dime
1955-D Wheatie
1948 Wheatie
1946 Wheatie
3-Quarters
9-Dimes
2-Nickels
20-Copper Memorials
10-Zincolns
and a couple of pieces of kids stuff and a glass marble.

By the way i hit the Merc using my MXT with Eclipse butterfly coil with it cranked all the way up.

Jim

Keep pounding that place. There's got to be some more of those sliver coins laying in wait.

I too, have found marbles in the same hole with coins.  Wondering if they don't all fall out of the same pocket.

Nice merc dime, Jim!  Smile

Nice dime Jim, I love to find shiny silver Smile

I like to find marbles..it's like a little extra treat you would have never found had you not gone for that penny Smile

Congrats on the Merc and all the Wheats. That was a very good hunt, Beale.

Thanks guys.   I will be sure to start digging the lower signals the next time.  I am sure I left jewelry at the site, especially some silver or gold crosses.  As for the marble, yes it popped out when I was digging up a 65 quarter.  Some of these marbles are worth some big bucks.  I saw one on one of the blogs that sold on Ebay for $180.  Keep those marbles!
