I took Charlie's advice and went back to the place where I had been hitting the wheaties and early clad and went slow and listened for the deep signals. I figured with the rain I had a good chance of finally getting some deep silver. I was hoping for some silver Rosies since I had found many 1965-69 in this site. Well I found something I hadn't expected...a sweet 1940-D Mercury Dime! It was about 5" deep. The rain really helped me hit some deeper coins this time. Ended up with the following:
1940-D Mercury Dime
1955-D Wheatie
1948 Wheatie
1946 Wheatie
3-Quarters
9-Dimes
2-Nickels
20-Copper Memorials
10-Zincolns
and a couple of pieces of kids stuff and a glass marble.
By the way i hit the Merc using my MXT with Eclipse butterfly coil with it cranked all the way up.
I like to find marbles..it's like a little extra treat you would have never found had you not gone for that penny _________________ Make yourselves sheep, and the wolves will eat you. - Benjamin Franklin
Thanks guys. I will be sure to start digging the lower signals the next time. I am sure I left jewelry at the site, especially some silver or gold crosses. As for the marble, yes it popped out when I was digging up a 65 quarter. Some of these marbles are worth some big bucks. I saw one on one of the blogs that sold on Ebay for $180. Keep those marbles!
