Big Old Token!I ran across this broken manhole cover and thought it was kinda neat .The only one Ive ever seen in my 27 years of right of way work. I was aware that Edward Dilworth Latta was up too alot of things back in the late 1800s but didnt know he was selling running water until now.

Cool find there, Tim. That's a real piece of Charlotte history.
Latta was the president of the Charlotte Consolidated Construction Company. Known as the "4-Cs". These business leaders had their fingers in just about everything that involved the early development of Charlotte. I'm sure they made a ton of money in building their business ventures, but the city of Charlotte was quickly pulled into the 20th century due to their visionary efforts.
