Happy HuntingI understand that someone found a large cent today. I can't say who it was, but his initial starts with Bill, I mean B. I think it was an 1848 large cent. Way to go there fellow, Was this you first large cent?
Well; congrads Bill, looking forward to seeing it at our next meeting. Yes, I know what you're going to say; I will be there this time.

Thanks. At the start I was not sure what it was. It was only about an inch down in very hard dirt. I got it home and tried to clean it but it really did not help any. I do not have a date on the coin. Charlie is trying to clean it and he will have it at the meeting. I wish I could come but I have a computer class I must help teach to some police volunteers. This is the second large cent I have found. The first one was found up in Cleveland, OH in a library yard and is in bertter condition (could it be much worse?). I don't recall the year off hand.

No I could not do anything with it. I tried the washing soda and hot water with a nylon brush and it looks the same. We know it's a large cent but what year? I don't think we'll ever know.
Bill good find !! and that the best picture you could do.
