Howdy folks! I'm new here...Howdy, I'm a newbie to the hobby. I began back in the spring and have run through several detectors since then.(buy, try, sell & trade) No new ones, all used. I’ve settled in with a GTI 1500 which I find most excellent for coinshooting. I do a beach trip twice a year and enjoy that but I also getting out at the local parks, schools, fairgrounds, woods, soccer fields, sports complexes, etc every chance I get. My oldest find is a 1905 penny. I have pemission to hunt a couple of local farms once the deer hunting season goes out, so I’m looking forward to that. I'm 52 years old and absolutely "hooked" on detecting. I'm located in western NC. Anyone one on the forum in Gaston or Cleveland Counties?
I guess that's about it. Thanks for allowing me in the forum.

Welcome Curt. I think a lot of us would be glad to help you "clean up" the fields over that way. Just let us know when deer season is over.

WelcomeGood to have you here Curt. You will find this is the place to talk about metal detecting. We look forward to hearing about what others are finding and pictures are even better.
I hunted all day and only managed some clad coins, a Grover Cleveland presidential coin and a 1943 Wheat penny. But I had a great time with two buddies in 40 degree temps looking at the blue sky. Sure beats sitting at work or in front of the tv.
PS my buddy got a Mercury dime.

Thanks Guys!Appreciate the welcome! Gonna have to work till noon tomorrow but then I heard the wife say she had some last minute items to pick up at the mall which means I'll be detecting somewhere, weather permitting. Then I'm off till Jan 5th and I'm looking forward to hitting some spots I've never been before.
Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum, I know what it's like to buy and sell many many detectors in search of the one that's just right. I finally settled on 2, the DFX and the Explorer.
I worked Gaston, Cleveland and all the surrounding counties for many years. If you want to get together and do some hunting, give me a shout.

Managed to get in a couple of hours this afternoon...Nothing but clad but it was fun anyway. Sorta weird where I found them. I hunted around a baseball field and then looked around and saw a huge oak tree surrounded by some large cedars and pines. I walked over and noticed there was quite a wash that appeared to be where everything from the practice field came to. it was probably 3-4inches deep in leaves and chips barkchips. (not sure but maybe where they dump stuff they clean from the fields?) Anyway, moved around the trees and bang! started picking up clad in the wash area. Oh well, no gold or silver but cured my need for a "detecting fix" before I settle in to the Christmas scene with family and friends.
