I think there's a knife in there somewhere...

I dug this at my favorite 1890's home site yesterday afternoon. At first I just thought it was a tree root with a nail in it. Then I pulled it out of the ground and looked it over and it appears to be a knife of some kind. Any idea what kind it may have been? The dirt and mud is caked to it pretty good and I didn't want to try to remove it until I had a chance to see what it was. The handle appears to be some sort of wood and there is a metal logo plate attached to it.
Any info would be appreciated.

Curt, You'll never get that sharp again Smile I would say it's a knife by the crest. Tim C. most likely can tell you the brand.
Great pic and thanks for sharing.

Looks like a Trapper pattern , smooth bone or stag ,as far as the brand ? No way to tell, Cool find .
