January 2007-Charleston What's It! Frank Take a look!When we headed to Charleston, we were all invited to hunt a nice yard downtown. Before Frank found his Slave Tag, he and I both found this interesting piece. I could only speculate as to what it was.
It has a patent date of July 6 1875 stamped on the front of it.

So, after moving in this weekend, I had to pocket this thing more than 5 times so that I wouldn't lose it. I wanted to know what it was! Tonight was the night to find out the true Identity.
I went over to Google. They have a feature to search by Patent Dates. I entered in "July 6 1875" and low and behold it was the first result listed.
It's an IMPROVED Picture Hanger!!!

While it doesn't show the EXACT item, it does show the variation of the design in Figure 3. You know how the Charlestonians have to have their stuff nice and decorated...
