Well I finally found myself an old quarter! Shane and I went to a site that I had scoped out and gotten permission to hunt this morning. We arrived at the site and ground balanced our machines and the 3rd signal I hit was a high tone silver. It was showing 2 inches on depth indicator so I hit it with my probe and it was getting a signal from above ground. I figured the machine was giving me a false signal so I took my finger and started digging. I felt the quarter and thought ok, a clad coin. Pulled the rascal out and to be honest, didn't know what it was. I hollered over to Shane and said what the heck is this? He took a gander at it and said feller, that's a 1900 Barber Quarter! I was tickled pink I tell you! I figured we had hit on a spot that was gonna be full of oldies! Well,as it turned out, between the two of us, I think we ended up with 20 or so memorial pennies, several clad dimes, a couple of nickles and a wheatie. Shane found most of them because I kept pulling my Barber out and staring at it. Hey, it was a fine day. Good fellowship and a piece of silver. It's a little beat up but I guess I would be too if I was 109 years old.
I told CJ one time that this hobby was an addiction and he said, "no, it's not an addiction....it's an obsession!" I couldn't agree more!
