Need help with button IDThis is the button Duane found at a site he and I usually hit. I told him I would scan it front/back and post to see if anyone can ID it.

This is the closest thing I can find. On the top of the button Duane found, you can almost make out some stars...

But this button is iron, a magnet does stick, and appears to have gilt. Also, the way it is the center looks more like x- I say a button with flags and a torch, but not quite the same.

Doh! I believe Montana Jim over on Treasurenet figured it out already. It is a plain iron flat button with gilt. It has been compressed so the "bar and shank" are pushing through to the front giving the appearance of a design..... here my modified photos to show where the bar and shark are in relation to the front picture.

Hmmm... I disagree. It probably isn't anything valuable but the "design" on the front does not match up with a compressed bar and shank. For one thing, the shank is not compressed into the back of the button and the bar doesn't account for all of the raised lines on the front.
