Newbie from Fort Mill (Indian Land)Hi all,
My name is Jamison. Just found your forum and web site and plan on joining the club. I have been detecting on and off since 1981 when Santa brought me a Sears Whites TR-Disc after continuously hassling my parents for one starting the day the Christmas catalog came out!! Later in high school (1984) after mowing lawns and saving $ I moved up to a Whites 6000 Di 3. Used the Whites on and off until this year ( on and off because in high school and college I discovered girls, parties and sports). This summer I put the Whites on Ebay along with a hip model of the same detector I picked up a few years ago, sold them both ( I was surprised on the bids I got) and bought a Garrett GTI. 2500. I have been lucky enough to detect all over the east coast US, a bit of the midwest, New Zealand and upcoming southern Italy at the end of Dec. I plan on some water hunting this summer and have been checking out different waterproof machines ( I know my Garrett will go knee deep..but I tend to drop things in water). We do have a Viper Trident that I got for next to nothing so my son could play with it in the water (we'll see how long that lasts before it leaks).
My wife, son and I have been in the area since 2002 moving from Wichita, KS. I currently fly the Boeing 747 LCF "Dreamlifter" for Boeing out of Charleston (when down there I always have my detector in the trunk). I also do a little part time work helping out a few funeral homes in the area and hold Funeral Director licenses in both North and South Carolina (this is my backup if I lose my pilot medical or the airlines continue on their downward spiral). My son is 8 and always complains about going with me detecting until he starts digging a bit then he starts having a good time!
Other hobbies I brew a bit of beer and just played my last game of rugby ( on orders from my wife after turning 41) this year.
I look forward to meeting everyone...Have a great Christmas and New Year.
Cheers, Jamison

Thanks for the post Jamison. Nice to have a fellow Kansan on the forum. My wife and I are originally from Lawrence, and we have a 10 yr. old son who I'm sure would like to meet Alex. Kyle's still not much into hunting yet, but he likes to go and play around the sites.

WelcomeHi Jamison,
The club is great! We just had our Christmas party and it was very nice.
That is one huge plane you fly! It's good to work in the funeral business as a backup, but I hear it can be a dead business too. (lol-just kidding!) Anyway, welcome!

Welcome Jamison,
I am Bill and also a transplant, but from Ohio. I always wanted a detector as a child and my mom and dad said they would not find anything (along with the glasses you wore that saw through things). Finally in the 1980's I bought a used Garrett Groundhog. After a few upgrades I now have the White's XLT and love it. Great hobby and great club. I hope to see you at the next meeting.

Welcome to our forum, as you have read, we have a few midwesterner's (I actually lived in Nebraska for 12 years and Illinios for 14 years) before coming to this area in 1999.
We like to have fun, and it sounds like you will fit right in. I hope you can make the January meeting!
If you did not see our club website, check it out at www.mdacclub.org
for more information about the club and where we hold our meetings, or feel free to contact anyone here on the forum.
