Some clad and a Barber Quarter!I went to a site yesterday afternoon that I’ve hunted several times in hopes of finding some elusive silver. The site is an 1890 house as documented via the county GIS site that also had a Livery Stable on the property. I contacted the owner and secured his permission to hunt the property. In the past I’ve been able to pull plenty of clad and wheat pennies but that’s been about it. I began hunting and had dug about 7 holes with no luck, when I got a good solid repeatable signal at 7 inches. The sizing feature on my machine was saying it was a large target so I was thinking it was just another large brass nail or bolt. I cut a plug and began removing the dirt from the hole when I saw the coin sticking out of the side of the plug and immediately knew it was something silver. I got my and camera and shot a photo to document the find for my records, then pulled the coin out and wiped away the dirt. It is an 1898 Barber Quarter! Yahoo!!! I also found some clad and what appears to be the butt end of a bone handled knife. I just wanted to share a photo of my find. This is my 2nd Barber this year so I’m stoked for more hunting! Take care everyone and HH.
