Gee you got me on that one. I would look for the oldest houses I could find that were not turned into historical shrines. Ask permission to search the grounds around them. Do  a neat job on the recoveries and share some of what you find with the owners. They may recommend you to someone else with an older property.
Try smaller towns like Leaksville, Draper and Spray. Look for older sections there. Same thing in , find out who owns the property and ask if they mind if you swing a detector around. I like to ask permission because I'm not comfortable looking over my shoulder and waiting to hear that shotgun rack behind me Smile
If someone gives you a no just go to the next one.

Welcome to the forum.... practice your recoveries, once you can do a full recovery leaving any evidence you where, start getting permission from locals to hit their older homes.

Be careful in Guilford County parks, you can not excavate without written permission....

Sec. 13-15.  Excavations.
It shall be unlawful for any person to make an excavation in any park for any purpose without written permission of the county or its agent.
(Ord. of 5-31-90, § 14)

As for Greensboro City parks, check with the county clerk...

Sec. 19-1.  Park rules and regulations.
The city manager shall establish rules and regulations for the operation of municipal public parks and recreation areas. Upon approval by the council, it shall be unlawful for any person to violate any rule or regulation established by the city manager. A copy of the rules and regulations shall be filed with the city clerk.
(Code 1961, § 13-13.1)

Good luck and happy hunting.

I live in Burlington about 20 mins north of Greensboro. I was detecting a city park there one day and got stopped. I e-mailed the parks dept. They said they do not allow MD'n in the City parks.

I hunt Burlington parks with no problem.

You may also want to think about the public schools? I do hunt them on weekends and now that summer is here they should be of no issue.

If you want I could also give you info on a new club just starting up in Greensboro.

Good luck to you, Beale.

thank you all for you ideas and input... didn't know about the city parks in GSO, so thank you.  We have gone to a few of them and luckily we weren't stopped..... most of the schools around here however are fenced in and have signs for "No Trespassing"... so we have avoided them.  What about land were a fair had been?
